I am a very old school gamer and run un-modded Xbox 360s. I do LAN party’s 3-4 times a year. I have 8 systems permanently set up with 8 screens and consoles. I still absolutely LOVE this form of gaming! We live in the country and do not have access to High Speed internet (decent speeds but not super fast). Unfortunately, recently I had to replace a worn out machine with a recently acquired purchased-used machine that required me to download updates. The “new” (recently acquired) spare console is not happy. This has pi$$ed all the other consoles off. 😞
It takes me hours to trick all the consoles into playing nice with each other so we can finally play.
The issue I am having is several, not all, of my “original consoles” have an error that pops up when trying to connect to a multi-player game. I can start a multiplayer game on one of the happy consoles and get 2-4 consoles connected to the same multiplayer game. As I continue to add consoles I will get an error that states
“In order to enable multi player functions you must connect to the internet and download the necessary update/content” (something to that effect).
So I disconnect from the wires LAN network switch and connect to the internet to start the download. I must sign in to Xbox live. I use my main Xbox Live account and start the download. I will get an error that says “The download could not be completed because the file was corrupted or damaged”.
As long as I don’t log out of my main Xbox live account I can remove the cable for the Ethernet connection and plug it back into the network switch and connect to the game I have started. Before I enter the game I must sign in as another player so I don’t end up with 8 players all with the same name. I can usually sign in to the started multiplayer game now and then move to the next unhappy console and repeat the sequence.
It is a pain!!
If it was just one or two consoles it would not be too bad, but it is at least half. And I have to do this EVERY time we change games, even if I don’t turn the consoles off. This takes close to an hour to trick the consoles and make every console happy.
So when someone suggests we play a different COD game I want to punch them in the mouth 😳🙃😂
We play COD games 90% of the time. I would be happy to get to a point where I never have to connect to the internet again and just turn on the consoles and play.
Sorry for the long message. I would love to hear from you if it is possible to flash or reset my system so I can make all the consoles happy with each other. I am happy to compensate you for your time.
